Wedding proposal in Saint Giorgio Maggiore’s Island Venice

Jeorge chose to ask his girlfriend’s hand in the romantic Saint Giorgio Maggiore’s Island in Venice

Jeorge Proposal 1130 600

The couple arrives at Saint George’s and, enjoying the marvellous view from Saint George’s Island, Jeorge asks his girlfriend to marry him.

Romanticism, organisation and love. A lot of love. On Saint Giorgio Maggiore’s Island, in Venice, in the salty air there’s the atmosphere of a marriage proposal. Jeorge has just kneeled down and he is carrying a ring in his hands. Day after day, Venice is more and more a city of love. Year after year, in the third millennium, more and more people from all over the world want to link their own unforgettable memory to this stunning city. They are not satisfied just with the selfie in Saint Mark’s Square, or the mask bought as a souvenir in some workshops in Dorsoduro or a homemade mouth-watering speciality eaten in a trattoria (a local restaurant). Before engaging on the way towards the wedding, they need a crazy action. A determined action. A special one. The marriage proposal. Jeorge had imagined that. Then, thanks to the help of the right professional experts, he made it come true.

February 2016. George and his partner have arrived in Italy to enjoy some days of well-deserved  relax. After long walks accompanied by the inevitable local aperitif, it’s the time for a new goal. No more “sestieri” (Venetian districts), but a proper island. Temporarily leaving Venice, the two are now heading to one of the best places where to admire the ancient Maritime Republic from: Saint Giorgio Maggiore’s Island, where the imposing Palladian Basilica lies. Jeorge has prepared his love trap, determined to declare his love once and for all. Eternalising their engagement in the presence of the lagoon waves.

Not excessively luxurious clothes. It is cold in Venice. She’s wearing a cosy hat with a pompom. Her nails are long and polished. On Saint George’s Island there are strangely few people. But it’s better like this. The island is all for them. Jeorge accomplishes the classical ritual of the marriage proposal. She is astonished and touched as she watches him. She answers “yes, I will”. Some tears of joy start wetting the moved face of the future bride. She’s happy as never before and she proudly shows the ring on her finger. On the same arm she is wearing a silver blue bracelet with a small dolphin, perfectly in harmony with the breath-taking panorama that is surrounding them. Although they are both adults, they look like teenagers after their first kiss. And actually this new first kiss after the declaration is the most special and romantic one that you can imagine.

Venice is transforming itself again. It is a matter of moments, of seconds. In a few minutes the newly engaged couple is in Saint Mark’s Square again, sitting to toast at the Florian Café, where artists and celebrities always stop to admire the magnificence of the square and of Saint Mark’s Basilica. As the hours pass, the artificial lights start being fewer and fewer and the atmosphere becomes even more unrealistic. Jeorge and his fiancée keep flirting. They keep talking. And even when they don’t speak, they are already imagining their future together. They are already living it. The time for a short photographic shooting to preserve this romantic wedding proposal in Saint George’s and then they can be left alone.

New prisoners of love, they still take some time in Saint Mark’s Square. Walking under the Procuratie. Admiring all the architecture of the building that is the symbol of the lagoon city. They left as a simple couple, then Jeorge made a romantic wedding proposal on Saint George’s Island come true. She said “yes, I will”. Venice will forever represent the peak of their love story. The fundamental location of a new start, where love is part of their daily life and it will grow with them day by day.
