Wedding proposal in Venice aboard a private Yacht

Mika Proposal 1130 600

A private ride on a boat, a banner with the fateful question: will you marry me? Mika arranged a dinner aboard a private boat to ask Claudia’s hand.

Venice, Saint George’s island. Two masks open a banner with a special writing on it. On a private yacht Mika kneels down to make his wedding proposal to his sweet Claudia. She bursts into tears. She is extremely moved. She bends on her legs to kiss him. The husband and wife to be travelled for long. On a plane from Brazil they went over the clouds across the Atlantic ocean and landed in the Venetian city. Now their dream can go on.  Now here, in the ancient Maritime Republic, their union has been brushed by the gentle breeze of the lagoon.

Day after day, Venice confirms itself as the city of eternal promises. Palaces, terraces, romantic “campielli” and churches. Every building, indoor or outdoor, can become the theatre of a love declaration. Less common but not less lovely (maybe even more), the element that particularly distinguishes the ancient city-state: the water. Mika must have thought about it for a long time before arranging his romantic wedding proposal on a private yacht. The choice has been an important one. The D-day has started like many others, a nice walk in the city and the girl doesn’t suspect anything. A walk just to relax and unwind but in his head there’s a programme that will change both their lives forever.

Step by step, bridge after bridge, here they are, finally ready to cast off. At the dock, a luxurious yacht (an English Style 18 meter Motor Yacht) is waiting for the two Brazilian tourists to let them live the excitement of a tour all along the Venetian lagoon. A panoramic tour without being bothered by the crowd, to discover those parts of the city that from the land you couldn’t even see. With them aboard, besides the captain, there’s a singer and a violinist who are playing Over the Rainbow and Chaplin to create the perfect atmosphere.  There is also a photographer and a video maker to give the right emphasis to the view and the important day.

After having sailed along the coast of islands both inhabited and not, the boat gets to Saint Mark’s basin; in front of them there is Saint Mark’s Square. Suddenly a private taxi arrives and on its side there’s a banner saying “Claudia, you are everything to me”. The woman is touched and happy. The two lovers toast. It is a special moment. The lights start fading. A ferry-boat goes by. Their boat seems to hesitate in front of Saint Mark’s taking the two guests very close to the Doge’s Palace; then it goes back to the open sea towards Saint Giorgio Maggiore’s island and it’s another turn of events. Or better, a sudden romantic “heart attack”.

In front of the Palladian church and a temporary artistic venue, a white mask and a purple one carry a banner with a very meaningful writing: “Will you marry me?” Claudia hardly believes what is happening is true. She looks around. She shows some little signs of fainting. Love dizziness, we could say. She nearly collapses in her man’s arms but she’s immediately rescued and cuddled by her sweet Mika who arranged this successful and romantic wedding proposal on a private boat. He finally puts the ring on her finger and they are now ready to enjoy the second part of their trip with something more in their heart, the certainty of a future wedding.

In spite of its age, the movie Titanic (1997, by James Cameron) is still present in the hearts of those who still believe in romanticism. Who never dreamt of lifting her arms like Rose (Kate Winslet) did on the bow of the transatlantic, while her lover Jack (Leonardo Di Caprio) firmly held her? Mika and Claudia go beyond that. On the much safer stern of the yacht, they join together. They tightly hug each other, keeping their heads one leaning on the other. He carries his glass of champagne with his left hand, she carries it with her right hand. A toast in their honour. Time goes by and it gets darker and darker and quite chilly, too. It’s better to enjoy the rest of the trip below deck, also because there is a private chef that is waiting for them. The dinner is going to be served.

Course after course, the two lovers delight their palate starting with a welcome aperitif with flutes of Prosecco, Spritz, Bellini and Rossini; fresh fruit juices just prepared and a choice of canapés. And then it is the moment of the dinner with Mediterranean flavours and the tasting of land delicacies with Culatello and Burrata, green asparagus flan and Montasio fondue, organic meat tartare with different garnishes. And also risotto with purple artichokes from Sant’Erasmo, Taleggio from the Alps and summer black truffle. Fresh little trofie with white veal ragout and Castelmagno cheese. Pink fillet of beef with Pinot sauce and Swiss chard from the garden. And more side dishes with organic vegetables ratatouille. And finally the dessert: cherry Tarte Tatin and Extra-virgin olive oil gelato.

An intimate and delicious dinner aboard a yacht at the conclusion of an unforgettable day, spent on the charming Venetian lagoon. Mika and Claudia leave the Serenissima behind their back, going towards the Lido, where at the end of every summer the Cinema Festival takes place. The sky turns into several vague tones. A blue veil with orange and pink light stripes. And the evening goes on like this, until the stars conquer the vault with the Venetian background. The couple coming from South America come back very late from their night out; they still have the shivers of a precious and unique moment. Mika asked Claudia’s hand. She said “yes”.
