Candles, petals, the sunset, a stunning private terrace with a breathtaking view… the perfect scenery for a wedding proposal.

From the top of a private terrace with a view on the Grand Canal in Venice, a couple of lovers lived the magic moment of a very special wedding proposal. They are coming. It’s the nightfall. The Ancient Maritime Republic lays down its colours on the intimate hug between human beings and architecture. The natural choreography given by the sky, the seagulls and the chimneys of the doges is reflected on the amazement of the eyes of those lovers who chose this incomparable city to officialise their immediate and eternal future.

One half of the couple in love is hiding a secret. The other half is walking, unaware of how marvellous this evening can still become. In this case, the secret is kept for a greater good. In this story the secret leads the two lovers to the open air on a private terrace where the man can surprise his partner with a romantic wedding proposal. Every little detail has been accurately arranged. White lanterns with white candle insides. A flower bed rich of damask roses next to many big vases with other plants of the same colours.

In the middle of the terrace, a white little table where some red petals had been sprinkled. On the same table there is a white bouquet and some other faint tea light candles. Everything is ready. Everything has been arranged to transform a simple night in the day of the most special wedding proposal ever seen on the lagoon. As the sun fades, the lovers make their entrance under the Venetian vault of heaven. The emotion can be felt in every breath. Too many flowers. Too much excitement. There is something weird in the air. And so it is. The wedding proposal is done. The answer doesn’t take so much time to come. Now they really can celebrate in the most romantic way.

From a terrace with a view on the Grand Canal they are toasting with glasses full of Prosecco. Tourists come from all over the world to admire it and sail on it, but now it seems to be there just for these two lovers. From there they can see the tops of many bell towers. For once Google Maps can stay on the web. There isn’t the necessity of distinguishing them all. The day is so bright that from faraway you can clearly see the dome of the Basilica della Salute, where every 21st November the whole Venetian population pours to celebrate and pray the Virgin Mary that freed the city from the terrible plague in 1630-1631.

White, purple and damask roses. Nearly following the model of New York gardens, but the difference is that under this private terrace there isn’t the chaotic traffic of the Big Apple  but the historical magnificence of Venice. Minute by minute, some light flashes seem to fade until disappearing into a soft shadow. The couple is there, in the middle of this world. There are some open windows and some half-closed shutters. The Rialto typical Fish Market just on the opposite bank of the Grand Canal is now silent. Just some cats are looking for some tasty preys in the salty water.

The couple is there, on the terrace. The Grand Canal and Venice are very close. One step away from their sight. The two lovers are still sipping their wine. They are moving slowly  to enjoy a 360 degrees view of Venice. But for a moment their minds leave the Serenissima, while their attention goes towards the stars, eternal mirrors of the best human emotions. Now they stare at them until they see their dreams plunge into the silent waters of the lagoon and then re-emerge, swapping their place in the two lovers’ heart.
