Religious ceremony in the beautiful church of San Moise, Venice

Catholic wedding in San Moisè Church Venice. One of the most Romantic Churches in Venice. The story of an intimate religious ceremony in the majestic church of San Moise in the heart of Venice.

Two young Lithuanians came to Venice to marry with a religious wedding in the Church of San Moise, just a few minutes’ walk from St Mark's square. An important step for the two lovers that decided to swear eternal love before God in the Venetian summer. The groom with short hair, a light blue spezzato and two white roses in his buttonhole. Elegant white gown with veil and bouquet for the bride, as charming as she has never been before.

The wedding is on the 10th of July at  1 p.m. Before the ceremony, there are many things to do. The alarm rings early. A sweet breakfast and then, at 8.30 a.m., the hair stylist comes to the hotel for the bride. A break of an hour and then two separate photo shoots for the groom and the bride. At 12.30 p.m. the couple walk to reach the Church of San Moise, a religious building that was probably built at the end of the 8th century a.d., in the sestiere of San Marco.

The entrance is solemn. Audrius waits for his future wife at the altar, and when Kristina arrives he gently lift her veil. Before them, the imposing altar designed by the architect Alessandro Tremignon from Padua (1635-1711), who also designed the impressive Baroque facade; the sculptural part was designed by Enrico Merengo, a German artist later naturalized Italian, while the background with the triumph of angels was painted by the Venetian Michelangelo Morlaiter (1729-1806). And who better than those winged creatures so close to God may be the witnesses for their wedding? Both say yes, now their life together can begin.

It's a beautiful day in Venice. Azure sky and a radiant sun. The husband and wife allow themselves a first walk in St Mark’s square: Procuratie Nuove, Procuratie Vecchie, the Clock tower and, of course, the Basilica. Spouses, in love and even a bit playful. In the city of Carnival, Audrius and Kristina wear masks, a white cat for her and a black bird for him. Audrius and Kristina first met and knew each other, then they fell in love and today, here in Venice, they got married in the Church of San Moise.

After a relaxing walk, it comes the time for photographs, together with their guests and finally just the two of them. Venice is all for them, with alleyways, small docks and buildings that are impossible to forget. Walking and walking, until they go aboard a gondola. When they pass under the Bridge of Sighs they kiss passionately.

Not only a gondola: near the columns of San Marco and Todaro, right in front of the Palazzo Ducale, Audrius and Kristina go aboard a private taxi with destination San Giorgio island, famous for its Palladian architecture. The day continues slowly. The bride and groom keep holding their hands. Their union makes Venice looking even more beautiful.

It's 6 p.m. when Audrius and Kristina return to the hotel. Shortly, they will share with their guests the culinary delights of Venice with an appetizer and then the dinner, from the top of a charming private terrace overlooking St Mark's basin. Meanwhile, their thoughts go back there, to their religious wedding just celebrated in the Church of San Moise in Venice. Who knows how many times they will tell this story. How many times they will feel overwhelmed with happiness talking about it. It will happen, of course it will happen, many and many times during their wonderful life together.
