Borislav chose a secluded place, far from palaces and square, far from the most popular touristic routes: he chose a secret garden of a small island. Not just a place, but a point of no return in his life. A place where you can just go away with a lifelong imperative to desire and live happiness, whatever the cost. The slight breeze blows across the lagoon. The Venetians go around through the narrow streets of Venice, while the tourists walk coolly, enjoying a tour and discovering all the wonders between sacred art and architecture. But someone came to Venice to finally enjoy a holiday dreamed since time immemorial... someone acted behind the scenes, giving the keys of an unforgettable moment of his life to others. Set the date, the couple board a private taxi to reach a small island not far from the heart of the maritime Republic. The view of Venice from a boat is an experience completely different from what they have seen so far in the city itself. It's like being at the same level of the water. You're at the centre of a world still able to make citizens from every continent dream and get married. The view change from the Doge’s Palace to the imposing Basilica della Salute, then to the Bell Tower of San Giorgio Maggiore and finally to St. Mark’s Square.
They are reaching their destination. The lagoon is quiet, with warm waves here and there. On the opposite side of the dock there is an open gazebo with two comfortable chairs adorned with fluffy pillows that await them. Touched the ground again, Borislav and his better half walk. He tells her that he read something about this island not too famous but with a heavenly garden, where they can enjoy a refreshing aperitif, go for walks and see the entire city of Venice from a totally unique point of view. Sweet words between the two young lovers, while the air gets caressed by the docile little flames of torches on either side of the path.
It seems to be no signals of hidden secrets. Borislav has very short hair and is wearing jeans with a stylish belt and a darker shirt. The outfit of his (future) better half is more casual. Sincere smile, blond long hair, a white dress with some butterfly painted here and there and flowering plants at the height of the skirt. If the painter Botticelli comes back to life and sees her now, he might choose to add her in one of his most famous paintings, the Allegory of Spring (tempera on wood, exhibited at the Uffizi Gallery in Florence).
Suddenly someone starts playing the violin. The atmosphere is more and more romantic and Borislav can’t bluff or postpone any more. They are there, just a few steps from the lagoon, in such a heavenly garden. He holds her hand, kneels down and makes the wedding proposal. He wants to know if she wants to spend the rest of her life at his side. She is very delighted and accepts. First she hugs him, then she kisses him with such a sweetness. Now it’s time for the toast. Anyone able to organize a really romantic wedding proposal is certainly not so careless to skip this moment. Venice enacts a new engagement with surprise, goblets, bubbles and flowers all around.
Out of nowhere a photographer arrives and encourages the two young people to walk till the nearby olive grove to take some pictures of them in this special day. It seems to be in some southern land like the countryside of Salento... and to be honest, the Adriatic Sea is the same, lapping the shores of Veneto and Puglia. Borislav and his (increasingly) beautiful girlfriend are always looking at each other. They love each other, and they’ll keep loving each other in the daily life. They play with the camera for a while. Then, in an early post-wedding that will happen soon, he takes her in his arms, as the usual tradition before entering into the honeymoon room.
As a worthy conclusion to this romantic proposal in Venice, a private dinner with a chef is served right there, in the outdoor gazebo. Between courses, thoughts and imagination fly to the perfect month and day to get married. The friends to invite, the menu to prepare... So many things to think about, but with no pressure. Now it’s their moment, just for therm. Now there are only Borislav and his girlfriend on an island of the Venetian Lagoon, the warmth of the torches and the beating of their hearts.
