Romantic Winter Wedding in Venice

A moving wedding in Venice during Christmas time

Romantic Winter Wedding in Venice, Italy

Makaiah and Kenton are an American couple who came from Washington to get married in Venice, in a sumptuous Venetian palace.

They have always been in love with Venice and its unique structure and they deeply wanted their marriage to be celebrated here with a symbolic ceremony. Of course, once they contacted us we informed them about all the requirements are needed to get married in Venice, just in case. Planning a destination wedding in Venice isn’t easy, especially if you live on the opposite side of the world, and this is why choosing the perfect wedding planner agency is essential. Having a wedding planner who can understand your needs and take care of every single aspect of your special day is crucial both for the organization of your marriage abroad and your tranquillity.

Even if winter doesn’t seem to be the best time to get married in Venice, we assure you that it can be extremely romantic, especially if it snows. Moreover, is there any more beautiful Christmas present than celebrate your love with your better half?

Winter wedding in Venice: how we decorated the Palazzo Veneziano

Flowers play an important role in weddings and choosing the right ones is something that really matters. The bridal bouquet flowers, for instance, reflect the bride’s personality and must be in harmony both with the entire floral arrangement prepared for the ceremony and the reception. For example, Makaiah chose a bouquet of red roses - that notoriously recalls the main Christmas color - and so we did when we projected the floral arch we positioned inside the room of the Venetian Palace, in front of which they promised to love each other forever.

The arch was made of red roses and some green leaves to create the perfect Christmas atmosphere they wanted for their wedding.

In front of the arch, positioned right before the luminous windows facing the Grand Canal, we put a couple of elegant chairs for the bride and the groom, and a table with a bunch of flowers with the same colors of the bridal bouquet and the arch.

Makaiah and Kenton asked us to organize a small and intimate wedding, just for the two of them. No relatives, no friends, no witnesses, just them and the marvelous sound of a violin.

Makaiah was wearing a simple but detailed white dress, with an embroidered veil. She looked like an angel. Kenton, instead, was wearing the official US army uniform.

Symbolic wedding in Venice, in a majestic Venetian Palazzo

There are many ancient palazzos in Venice you can get married in, such as the luxury Aman Venice or the San Clemente Palace Kempinski, and if you’re about to plan your destination wedding here, we suggest spending a few minutes on our webpage dedicated to all the Venetian palaces available.

The one we recommend to our couple faces the Grand Canal and is characterized by a splendid marble staircase, which was decorated with flowers, pine needles, and golden branches because of Christmas. While Makaiah was climbing the stairs, it was like she was crossing a fairy wood, inhabited by elves and other magical creatures.

Once the wedding was celebrated, Makaiah and Kenton danced, holding themselves tight, under an incredible frescoed ceiling, following the notes of a gentle violin.

We won’t lie if we say that this marriage was like a private and extremely romantic fairy-tale, narrated in a beautiful and sunny winter day in the most enchanting city in the whole world: Venice.
