Wedding vows renewal ceremony in a Luxury Palace Venice, together for another 20 years

For their 20th wedding anniversary, Stephen and Tracy celebrated in Venice the renewal of their wedding vows.

On the delicate notes of a string quartet, Stephen and Tracy said “I do” a second time in Venice, renewing their vows after twenty years of marriage .

It was a long journey. No, I am not referring to the one above the clouds that Stephen and Tracy did to overcome the Atlantic Ocean. I was referring to their feelings, to that human desire to be happily side by side. Tracy and Stephen married twenty years ago. The flame of love is not at all consumed. They fed it and today they are here, in Venice to renew that magical promise. Looking into the eyes. Saying it with the sweetest sincerity.

The best always comes last, the saying goes. Stephen and Tracy have made a nice tour of Italy, stopping a few days also in the beautiful Tuscany. But before going home, there was one last stop to live: a city that is unique in the world, a city that seems designed by some romantic poet in a delirious dream of romance. This is the place where Tracy and Stephen have a special appointment. An appointment with themselves, with their past and their future. Stephen and Tracy are ready to celebrate in Venice their twentieth wedding anniversary.

Moments as these are experienced once in a lifetime and it's fair to spare no expense. So the American couple stayed in the luxurious Presidential Suite Hotel Boscolo (5 stars), located in the city center, in the Cannaregio street, along the foundations of Madonna dell'Orto (Calle Larga Piave). This area is much more frequented by local and less subject to the "invasion of the mass tourism".

The hotel is grown inside the Doge's Palace (ex - Rizzo Patarol), characterized by frescoes, sumptuous chandeliers and, element not exactly the norm in the city of Venice, a large 18th century garden directly overlooking the lagoon. It is in this incredible scenery that the couple leaves for Hotel Ca 'Sagredo, that is also an historic mansion, dated from the 15th century. Their destination was the Music Room, where there was waiting for them a string quartet and the municipal representative for the ceremony.

During the way, the luxurious taxi makes a short stop on the island of San Giorgio. It could not be otherwise. It is one of the best panoramic points of the entire Venetian lagoon. There you can enjoy the breeze coming from the Giudecca Canal and in front of  you, with a simple twist of 180 degrees, you can land on Basilica della Salute, Piazza San Marco,  Ducal Palace and a large portion of the Riva of Schiavoni.

The moment has come. The eyes of the two "repeated-spouses" are relaxed but moved. On their eyes it seems possible to reread their life together. Twenty years are many. They are five mandates of presidents in stars and stripes. In twenty years you can change an entire world. They have done it too. They chose love. In their daily lives they will certainly touched many people with their union. Now, however, it is another day. Now we are in a palace in Venice for the renewal of vows.

The bureaucracy wants its share. Is read (in English, of course) what needs to be specified, then the binary leaves space to creativity. Each one says a promise. Tracy said few words, almost interrupted by a tear of emotion. In front of them there is a candlestick with three lit candles. Crossing the graceful flames, their eyes are loaded with even more passion. They acquire future. Take notes, generations of easy feelings: here is a man who loves a woman and a woman who loves a man. And they are not afraid to express it. They do it. Together.

The ceremony ends. It's time for a champagne toast and the gondola ride. It goes of course through the Grand Canal, it also penetrating inside the incredible maze of small and medium-sized water ways, passing under the more unfamiliar bridges. Impossible not to mention the bridge of Conzafelzi, over the Rio of San Giovanni Laterano. A Venetian corner where the scenery is nothing short of amazing. A channel with a building in the center and then divided into two. A place for a first kiss. A place where share love, as in the case of Tracy and Stephen.

There can be no wedding in Venice or wedding anniversary that is, without its most perfect ending: a photo shoot in Piazza San Marco. And so they do, and then they  return to the Sagredo Hotel for an intimate dinner. The hotel, located in Campo S. Sofia (traditionally known to be the pier from which the gondola-ferry depart to the fish market of Ri 'Alto), is directly overlooking the Grand Canal and it is some steps away from the major shopping street of Venice, Strada Nuova.

It's hot. Stephen is in a tuxedo. Tracy in an elegant white dress, open on the back. I see them holding their hands. In front of them a long way. There are not many couples who decide to renew their wedding vows. It is not a bis marriage. It is a message that one wants to give to the other. A message that you want to continue to believe in this love.

Have a nice journey and life, Stephen and Tracy. Good luck for your way back home. We wait here in Venice for your 40th wedding anniversary.
