Indian wedding in Venice, Italy - Welcome Cocktail for guests before the wedding day

Before the Indian wedding in Italy and after the mehndi event on the Island of Roses, it is now time for Allyson and Sanjay's Cocktail Welcome along with their guests.

Allyson Sanjay Cocktail 1130 600

Welcome Cocktail in Venice the day before the hindu ceremony, 11th of October, 2015. Allyson and Sanjay have just woken up. Yesterday was a busy day. Henna party with a vegetarian dinner on the Island of Roses for the "girls", aperitif and dinner in the Old Town for the "boys". Today (and tomorrow) is another day. In this mild venetian autumn the entire Hindu-American group is ready to discover the priceless treasures of the Serenissima. First stop of the tour is Palazzo Ducale. Set between St. Mark's Square and the Bridge of Sighs, it is the old ducal palace (of the Doge), whose construction in Gothic-Renaissance style began in the ninth century. Tintoretto, Jacopo Palma, Titian are just some of the artists who contributed with their mastery to enrich the building.

Although the lagoon city is equipped with public and private water transports (without forgetting the possibility to make tours on the characteristic gondola), for those not used to walk a lot and admire one masterpiece after another, Venice can be very tiring. And when appetite calls, there must be an answer. So the entire wedding entourage thought well to satiate its taste with a nice lunch on the terrace of the prestigious Bauer Hotel, a few steps away from St. Mark’s Square and a few rowed from the Grand Canal.

To meet the tastes of all, more than one menu are prepared, starting with the vegetarian one: fresh appetizer of tomato salad with basil, goat cheese and pistachio crisp. Then, risotto with porcini mushrooms and an even more delicious second course: flowers of pumpkin with melted zucchini mousse and smoked ricotta. So, the big final: fruit cup with vanilla ice cream. There were special requests by three guests, who could not taste foods with gluten. No problem for the kitchen of the Bauer, who responded with a delicious menu of fish, shared with the remaining non-vegetarian guests: orange salad with shrimp and fennel, "Carnaroli Gran Riserva" risotto with lobster, basil cream and asparagus, chicken breast with herbs and baked potatoes, sorbet with Campari and Champagne.

The day, however, was just started. The day was organized to the last detail. After another raid around the city is the time of the expected evening Welcome Party at the Monaco & Grand Canal Hotel, which took place in the elegant salon of Concessions, often used for wedding events. Although still left a few months to Carnival, couple and guests wanted to give to the city a taste of this symbol party, and so it was decided that everyone will come with a mask. The ideal place to enjoy the dinner-buffet. In addition to the non-alcoholic cocktails, there were Bellini, Prosecco and the famous Venetian Spritz. They ate small ramequins cheese and mini French toast with ham and cheese. There was give space to fried vegetables, croquettes of vegetables, meat or rice; puff pastry with cheese; smoked salmon; skewers with tomato and mozzarella; sandwiches with dried meat of the Valtellina or with the inimitable San Daniele ham, and even with eggs, with tuna pate, and tartelettes with fresh goat cheese. Some inevitable encroachment in Venetian cooking: grilled polenta with salted codfish pureè; mixture of fried squid, prawns and zucchini; small octopus and kebab with crunchy celery, then dip, vegetable risotto and Amaretto Sabayon.

Then the dances started, all gladden and animated by four artists in clothes of the '700. Tomorrow is finally the big day.
