Majestic Armenian wedding in Venice in a historical Venetian palace
A nice and touching wedding celebrated inside the wall of an enchanting Venetian palace
September is one of the best times to get married in Venice.
Days are still long and mostly sunny and the weather is mild, which allows newlyweds to enjoy a photoshoot in the open air, with the unique st. Mark’s square on the background.
This is what happened with Mila and Colin’s wedding, on a beautiful day in September.
Mila is a nice gentle Russian girl born in Armenia, Colin instead is a handsome Italian guy born in California, whose destiny made them meet in London, the city where they both live and work.
Mila and Colin contacted us because their dream was celebrating their union in the city of love, surrounded by their families and their friends from all over the world for three days.
In fact, Mila and Colin arrived in Venice a few days before their wedding day, to spend some time with the people they most care about.
The first day we organized a private dinner for them and their families in an enchanting room, inside a historical palace in Venice. The day after was the time to meet all their friends, come to attend their wedding from anywhere, with a pre-wedding party.
The third day was the day of the wedding and it is the one we are going to tell you about.
Touching Armenian wedding in Venice on San Lazzaro degli Armeni island
San Lazzaro degli Armeni is a small island in the Venetian lagoon where a historic community of Armenia monks has been living since 1715.
The church is contained in the impressive monastery complex on the island, here, Mila and Colin said their “yes” for life.
Mila was accompanied by her father to the altar, where Colin was waiting for her visibly excited. The romantic and delicate music of a violin created the right atmosphere.
After the ceremony, our sweet newlyweds took a water taxi to have some time apart and take some pictures, while the guests reached the terrace of one of the most beautiful palaces in Venice to enjoy the aperitif we arranged for them.
Mila and Colin cut through the Venetian lagoon to reach one of our favorite spots for wedding photo shootings: San Giorgio Maggiore Island.
This place has something magical, besides the view of St. Mark’s Square from the other side of the basin. It’s a peaceful place, surrounded by sailboats.
At 6 pm, the just-married couple joined their guests at the historical Venetian palace for a quick aperitif before dinner, under the soft notes of a harp.
Then, the doors of the hall opened, showing the two imperial table we located in the center, ornated with high and elegant candleholders and flowers. The flowers we used to decorate the tables were roses, hydrangea, and some orchids, the same as Mila’s bridal bouquet. Everything was in shades of light pink and white.
Two different menus were available:
Fish/meat menu
Salmon & swordfish tartare with brioche bread
Zucchini & cheese ravioli.
Beef medallions in a crust of black olives with baked potatoes & onion
or
Baked filet of seabass with cherry tomato and olives with mashed potatoes
Green apple sorbet
Vegetarian menu
Parmigiano cheese mousse flan with artichokes sauce
Zucchini & cheese ravioli
Parmigiana di melanzane
Green apple sorbet
After the wedding dinner was time to dance. Mila and Colin open it under the notes of “How long will I love you” by Ellie Goulding. It was so romantic seeing them dancing so close with their eyes enlighted by a deep and sincere love.
Then Mila danced with her father and she asked us to put a particular song on: Armenian Girl by Elon.
And so, that night of September, Mila and Colin started a new life together, cutting their exquisite Millefeuille cake with her hand on his, under a night full of stars in the magical city of Venice, Italy.
